Our neurodevelopmental research facilities combine cutting-edge technology with child-friendly design to support studies of brain and cognitive development. We have introduced Zimbabwe’s first ultraportable Hyperfine MRI scanner, a 64-channel BioSemi EEG system, and dedicated spaces for standardised developmental assessments including the Griffiths III, Kaufman, and Malawi Developmental Assessment Tool (MDAT), alongside executive function testing.

We also assess executive function to understand how children plan, remember, and adapt to new challenges.
Together, these tools enable comprehensive, multi-modal investigation of brain structure, brain function and cognition, advancing understanding of how nutrition, infection, and early-life adversity shape child development.
